Blantyre Derby Raises K2.9 million

Wanderers vs Bullets FC at Kamuzu Stadium

The bonanza Blantyre derby between rivals Bullets FC and Mighty Wanderers played on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium grossed K2.9 million. The football match was organised by the Fellowship Association of Malawi (FAMA). Bullets won the game 2-0 with goals from Henry Kabichi and Douglas Chirambo to end Wanderers' three year domination of the Blantyre derby. 

FAMA has pumped in K12 million towards the off season tournament which will see the winner pocketing K3 million, runners up K1 million, and the third placed team will receive K500,000. The competition involves the top 8 teams from the TNM Super League.

Last year, CIVO United beat Bullets FC 1-0 in the final to clinch the Charity Bonanza. Proceeds from the tournament go to charity.
